Applicability

This Policy describes how Paw Paw Lake Yacht Club and the Paw Paw Lake Sailing Foundation treat personal information of individuals who interact with us. This includes on sites where it appears. This Policy does not describe our practices on sites where it does not appear or when it is not provided to you. This site is designed for those who are members of our Michigan-based yacht club and participate in offerings in this state.

The information we include the following:

  • Contact information. We collect your name and email address. We may also collect your phone number or street address. We may collect this information about you or your family members.

  • Payment information. If you make a purchase, like paying for membership dues, we (or our business partners who process credit cards for us) collect your billing information. This includes your credit card number. 

  • Information you submit. We collect the information you submit to us. This includes information about sailing levels for the sailing school. It may also include information about your interests or your boating experience.

  • Social media. We may collect information about you from social media sites. 

  • Demographic information. We may collect gender and age. We may also collect marital status and immediate family member names.

  • Communicating with you. We use information we receive from you to respond to your questions or requests. This includes contact you about membership or services we offer. It also includes providing you with information about club events or giving you information about this Policy or our Terms.

  • Improving products and services. We use information to improve our services and website. We might use information to customize your experience with us.

  • Protecting ourselves or others and legal compliance. We may use information to protect ourselves or our members. This includes protecting against fraud. We also use information comply with the law. This includes responding to law enforcement requests. 

  • Marketing purposes. We use information to provide you with information about services and offers. These might be our own offers or third party offers or products we think you might find interesting. 

  • We use information as otherwise permitted by law or as we may notify you. 

How We Collection Information

We collect information directly from you. We collect information you submit to us directly. This might include if you join as a member or sign up for an event. You might provide us with information in person or online. 

We collect information passively. We use tracking tools like browser cookies and web beacons. We do this on our websites and in emails that we send to you. We collect information about users over time when you use this website. This includes usage and browser information. We may have third parties collect personal information this way. 

We get information about you from third parties. We may receive information about you from third parties. For example, from your family member or if an existing member refers you for membership.

We combine information. We may combine information that we have collected offline with information we collect online. We combine information across devices, such as computers and mobile devices. We may also combine information we get from a third party with information we already have.

We share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf. We may share information with trusted vendors. These may include companies who help us deliver products or services to you. 

We will share information if we think we have to in order to comply with the law or to protect ourselves. For example, we will share information to respond to a court order or subpoena. We will share information if a government agency or investigatory body requests it. This includes U.S. and non-U.S. law enforcement or regulatory authorities.

You can opt out of certain marketing. To stop receiving our promotional emails or communications, opt out following the instructions in the message you receive. If you opt out of getting marketing messages, you will continue to receive messages from us about your relationship with us or as otherwise permitted by law.

Information Collected from Children

Our sites and apps are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or legal guardian and think your child under 13 has given us information, you can write to us or email us at the addresses provided at the end of this policy. We Use Standard Security Measures

We use reasonable security measures as required by relevant law. The Internet is not 100% secure. We cannot promise that your use of our sites will be completely safe. We encourage you to use caution when using the Internet. This includes not sharing your passwords.

Updates

From time to time we may change our privacy policies. We will notify you of any material changes to our Policy as required by law. We will also post an updated copy on the sites where this appears. Please check our site periodically for updates.
